Back on the Air (Almost): KM6DZ Returns

It’s been a long time since my last post here, and longer than I’d like since I keyed up. I haven’t been on the air for over a year. In 2022 I hung up the keys to the 18-wheeler and retired from driving, so the mobile station days are behind me. Now it’s time to put that energy back into the shack.
The plan is to rebuild the shack starting at the end of November. My Icom IC-7300 is in great shape and ready to go. The Yaesu HF rig has to go out for repair first. The Mosley beam needs parts too, because a bag went missing after the SNARS Field Day in 2019 and I never got it back.

The big project is the tower. In April 2021, Silent Key Elliot, KB3LY, willed me his 100-foot US Tower. I have photos and video of taking it down in Seaside, and I’ll be posting them here as I sort through them. It’s a story worth telling, and Elliot deserves to have it told right.
So stay tuned, and if you hear me on the bands again soon, give a shout.
73,
Ron, KM6DZ
